[EN] Personal ornaments carry interwoven meanings and are part of a complex system of communication where certain identities could be signified. This study aims to investigate the role that beads played in manifesting identities of age and gender at Aşıklı Höyük (8350-7300 cal BC) in east Central Anatolia. The bead assemblage from the site consists of stone, bone, tooth and shell beads. Throughout the hundreds of years of occupation at the site, the community underwent gradual changes in production, architecture, and symbolic behaviors.
